dulcimerboy This music is so wonderful. proper acoustic exploration of a kind that I only wish I was brave enough to do. Thank you for doing what I am far too much of a traditionalist to even try.

Phospheressence Wonderful, joyous, experimental, soulful, feels like it comes from another place, or deep inside or all around, transcendent, touching down, finding, exploring, reaching out. Did I say this takes me out there too? Would love to see you live sometime.

cellostuff I love this - someone who is finally doing the modern medieval really well. This album seriously branches out, bringing in unusual influences in seriously interesting ways. It is a compositional marvel and unlike anything you have ever heard.

Domen Finzgar It looks like a spontaneous meditation, but it's not. Beautifully composed with mindblowing sounds from instruments rarely heard anywhere else. A bit of classic minimalism and lots of string renaissance that is happening right now at loads of places in northern Europe/US. Perfection from Slovenia.

about

Ana Kravanja and Samo Kutin have for many years now been a mainstay of the creative music scene in Slovenia, a scene brimming with new creative expressions in the fields of imaginary folk, alternative rock, experimental music and free improvisation. More recently the pair have perhaps been particularly known as two thirds of the celebrated (including internationally) band Širom, known for its dream-like music that eludes genre labels. This time Ana and Samo are employing their creativity in a tandem that foregrounds the hurdy gurdy, the plucked string instruments tampura brač and çifteli with acoustic resonators (Samo), and the viola, violin as well as voice (Ana). Delivering a skilled execution and wonderful interplay, the pair interweaves and untangles enticing strands of music, full of hypnotic rumbling, playful jingling, and imaginative sonic and structural solutions. Tracks filled with billowing and reverberations are unveiled before us as complex and multilayered, yet their limber quality enchants and enraptures us instantaneously. Ana and Samo are constructing their soundscapes with musical rigour and exceptional congruence. They place each note exactly where it belongs in what resembles the structure of ancient fairy tales where each element has a role and a meaning and which fit Ana's and Samo's music like a glove.
